Happy New Year! We’re up and running in a new year. In many respects, 2018 was a hectic year. The political arena continued to be a blood sport, with our esteemed leaders worried more about “party” than country. The financial markets were not all that generous for the Holiday Season, reflecting a variety of investor concerns around the world.

Now that we’ve toasted the wonderful champagne offerings from France, we will journey to Spain and Italy to sample their sparkling wines for our around-the-globe holiday celebration. Cava hails from Spain and Prosecco is Italy’s bubbly beverage. Both wines are usually less regulated and therefore more reasonably priced than their “cousins” from France!
I am fortunate to have my wife Margaret to handle most of the holiday details in our family. If I were in charge, I imagine I would be like the Christmas version of Paul Revere, calling out, “The holidays are coming! The holidays are coming!”
