“GROWN in the U.S.A.”
To re-imagine a classic Bruce Springsteen song, “GROWN in the U.S.A.” is the theme for our last installment in the “Wine Not” newsletter series. We are fortunate in the United States to have an abundance of delicious and well-priced sparkling wines. I’m sure many of you have already selected a favorite for your New Year’s Eve celebration. Please share your favorites with Tim: firstname.lastname@example.org.
My sisters love the Chandon portfolio of sparklers for celebrating year-round. My sister Zoe makes amazing cocktails with them. Her French 75 is an outstanding treat we all enjoy when we spend time together celebrating! One easy but visually interesting way to serve sparkling wine is buffet-style to allow your guests to create fun and festive cocktails. It can be elaborate, with many different garnishes (cranberries, raspberries, red currants, sprigs of rosemary) and mixers (orange juice, Crème de Cassis, cranberry juice and even fruity sorbets) or a simple display of sparkling wine and a pitcher of blood orange juice. Just another way to make your holiday celebrations bubbly!
Fox News recently shared a “Top 10” list of their Best American Sparkling Wines—one of which is even named “Trump.” The list includes three of my personal favorites: 2009 Schramsberg Brut Rosé, Gloria Ferrer 2008 Anniversary Cuvée, and the Laetitia 2010 Brut de Noirs. There is also a sparkling wine on the list from Washington that Tim and I will be sampling over the holidays. It is a Treveri Cellars Sparkling Pinot Gris selling at around $15 a bottle. When you gather together in the next few weeks, offer a variety of “GROWN in the U.S.A.” sparklies and create your own “Top 10” list!
I hope our “Wine Not” series in December has added some effervescence to your holiday celebrations. As you toast the New Year and enjoy time with family and friends, we raise a glass to all of you who have made our 2018 an enjoyable year. Please note that our office will be closed on Monday, December 31st and Tuesday, January 1st to allow our staff to ring in the New Year with their friends and families. Cheers to 2019!
